About the place:

The town of Tours, France is a gorgeous old world gem with plenty to see and do.
It was founded in the late Iron Age by a Celtic tribe known as the Turones, who gave it the name “Turodum”. Some people believe that Tours is a combination of two words: turn and oaks. This may have referred to an old proverb “There are no fine trees near Tournehem” or else be some sort of archaeological reference to ancient times when castles were built out of oak wood.

Tourism began here at least as early as Roman times with its famous monument (the church Saint-Martin) being erected on one such trade route between eastern France and Western Europe.
