About the place:
Bossay-sur-Claise is a small town in the department of Haute Marne. It has been inhabited since prehistoric times and it is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France. In its old days, this place was famous for lace making and silk weaving. Nowadays, it’s known for being a wonderful tourist destination that offers both historical monuments and natural beauty.
It has a population of only about 250 people but it has its own local festival called “Fête des Vendanges” which is celebrated each year on the first weekend after harvest time. There are many other attractions to explore around this small village including castles and more.
The town of Bossay-sur-Claise is recently referred to as the “Gateway to Val de Creuse” because it’s located at the beginning of a scenic route through this part of France. Visitors enjoy exploring the historical sites, castles, and natural landscapes throughout this region while hiking or cycling on trails that lead them from one destination to another. A model of the château is on display in a small museum, as well as an exhibition about the history of Bossay-sur-Claise. The castle was built by French aristocrat Antoine d’Aubusson from 1488 to 1523. It includes five towers with roofs covered in colored tiles made at nearby Briare pottery works.
